This is a very successful example of the use of BOLs and a summary of the experience is given in Appendix 3. However, the busway is severely congested and presents a ‘wall of buses’ in the peak hours, as can seen in Figure 3 below. Current capacity is 7,500 pax/h/d and this value can be quoted as a typical maximum for this type of 7m busway with no overtaking.

The authorities are now rationalizing certain routes into more conventional HCBRT trunk and feeder routes in order to limit the number of buses and routes operating on this infrastructure.
